Assignment 2 may seem quite simple, but it is actually a very good test of your understanding of Windows utility software and general computing best practice. While simple, it is quite an thorough test made up of two tasks completed over two days: * Task 1 - Three IT support tickets that you must resolve and document * Task 2 - Creation of user instructions ### Task 1 - *Deal With Job Requests* For this task you will be provided with three different job tickets, these tickets are designed to simulate job requests that you may received from staff when you enter an IT support role. You will have access to a separate virtual machine on your workstation for each of the support tickets, this VM will be pre-configured, ready for you to provide support. Here are some of the the tasks that previous papers have required of students: - Installation of configuration of anti-virus software - Configuration of Windows Backup - Enabling Bitlocker encryption - Setting up additional local user accounts - Configure an email account - Update Windows and enable automatic updates - Check hard drive integrity using chkdsk - Check for driver updates - Installation of productivity software (LibreOffice) - Installation of VPN software - Map a network drive These tasks are routine, and not overly complicated and you will be provided with any required software. This task has a simple incident log workbook that you must complete with along with a document containing screenshots and explanations of the actions that took to complete the support ticket. ### Task 2 - *Create User Instructions* This task is broken down into two sections, a written portion and a screen share video demonstrating how to perform a certain set of tasks. The written instructions can be anything in the space of corporate IT, it will generally be on a subject area that will impact end users in a business, such as social engineering or malware incident. The guidance that you give must be written in a way that is informative but at the appropriate level of complexity for a non-tech specialist - this is one of the key parts of this challenge, writing at the right "level". The second portion that you must complete is a screen recording of how to undertake preventative measures. For example, the 2024 Assignment 2 Past Paper asks the student to produce the following screen recording guide: * How to back up files to another drive and the potential to automate this * How to restore files from a previous backup and any implications of doing this * How to connect to a secure wireless network for internet access #### Screen recording in Fedora Workstation: 1. To start the recording, press the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R keyboard shortcut. Once the recording begins, a red circle indicator appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, indicating that the recording is active. 2. To stop the recording, press the same Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R keyboard shortcut again. The red circle indicator disappears, signalling the end of the recording. The recorded video files are saved in the `~/Videos` directory. The filenames of recorded videos start with `Screencast` and include the date and time of the recording.
